Freddy Gutierrez: separated from wife and children for over four years

I have been separated from my wife and children since January 30 of 2007.

This forced and prolonged separation by itself is taking a great tall in our life, the consequences related to this situation keep getting worse and worse, up to the point that they are unsustainable.

Just to mention a few of the most significant ramification of the family breakdown, are the fact, that our children are growing basically without a father in Colombia, this is been reflected in different ways, for example, our U.S. born children used to have a very stable general behavior, good education inclination and loving attitude everywhere, now all those values are worsening on the daily basis and are showing a hostile behavior, that in the opinion of the Colombian Doctors, they are resenting the fact that their father is not with them, specially, taking into consideration, that they are a boy and a girl and both need their father as their roll model figure.

Another important point related to my children has to do with their physical development that seems to have slowed down, witch also in the Doctor opinion, may be related to the loss of appetite because they keep missing their father and viewing this separation as something unfair that they do not understand or comprehend no matter how many times that is explained to them.

My wife, which is on the middle of my pain and our childrens’ pain that is added to her own desperation for having her family disarticulated, is consistently immerse in depression, and an excruciating agony that little by little is taking her to the mentally insanity.

The suffering of my family, added to the loneliness that I am going through as father and as husband is worsening day after day and year after year, my general physical and mental health, my general economy because I can not concentrate in my job performance as I used to be and is increasing significantly the possibilities of having a bad accident in the American roads because of the lost of concentration while driving for being missing my family.

I, as the father, husband and petitioner in the instant case, have established before and I am establishing  now, that I am suffering an extreme hardship if my wife and children are not allowed to return to the United States to live with me. We have  been marry for over 11th years and have two very young and tender children. The pain and struggle caused for this separation goes beyond the beyonds. With significant difficulties, I have been able to visit my wife and my children in Colombia a few times, however, our lives have been placed in hold since the departure of my wife and children to Colombia, the resources from that country can not in any way compare to the possibilities of being educated in the United States as a Native U.S. Citizen.

As I established several times before, I have a valuable job and related benefits in the states that I can not afford to even question. If I move to Colombia our financial resources will go down to almost nothing, not to mention the real danger that I will be facing for the simple fact of being an American Citizen with American children’s.

I am respectfully and humble requesting your attention to reunite this family.

Thank you.

Freddy J Gutierrez
